One of my earliest happy memories was riding. I can’t even tell you what it was, but I just remember smiling and feeling free. My whole life in one way or another has and is filled by time on two wheels. I have used the bicycle as a commuter, and I have raced for various clubs and on many different surfaces. It has taken me to places I never thought possible, and I have met people who share my same affinity with this relatively simple form of transport.
As a photographer I like to document those around me, and the people who ride bicycles are ‘My Tribe’.
The description of a tribe is suggested as ‘A set or number of persons of one profession or family’, and this is where you come in. My ultimate idea is to make a collection of photographs of ‘My Tribe’, the cyclists of the world. No matter how good or bad; dedicated or for fun; dirt or road; I want to photograph you and document you as a part of ‘My Tribe’. These portraits will comprise a work I hope will grow over years, and show the happy nomadic ways we use bicycles to move around this earth. So wear your favourite cycling attire, your favourite helmet and bike, and join in the exploration.
