This work is titled “Like Me’ and is still in production.
This social commentary on how we see ourselves in the new technological world, and the representation of our identity was my chief drive and exploration. The way we now see ourselves and arms length away confines our identity, and the places we exist. The ‘selfie’ nature has proliferated and ultimately diluted the nature of the ‘self portrait’ and it’s idea behind who the sitter is.
These new self portraits are a game of popularity, to be liked, tagged, shared, and commented on around the world. Our identity has changed from being about the ‘me’ in the image, and more about the global branding of ‘me’.
This piece is ongoing and I hope many many more people will join in and have their portrait taken. Please fill out the contact form if you would like to participate.
